My Personal story

Hi there, I’m Mary Sheridan.

I’m a Naturopath – Nutritional Therapist

A mum of five, partner to very supportive person, surrounded by a fantastic extended family and friends. Yet something was missing. I felt low, low in spirit, low in energy and low self-esteem. This was starting to impact on my health. I felt I had to be everything to everybody because I was at home all of the time. I wasn’t leaving the house to go to work, so I created my own perception of myself having to be available all of the time. So I worked long hours starting my days sometimes at 7 am, having been up intermittently at night with the small children, and maybe not getting to bed till 11 or 12 at night. This was challenging my health in a way that I hadn’t realised. I was struggling with fatigue, weight gain and low self-esteem. I knew that if I kept on this path I was really heading into a world of declining health. However this was going to impact on me physically and emotionally it was also going to have a huge impact on the people who relied on me which was my young family. Nobody could change this only me.

I set about finding a personal trainer to get me fit again and get me on the right track with nutrition. Luckily I found the right person. On reflection, if I had found the person that would have stuck to a plan that was focusing only on getting me to the goals that I thought I needed to reach, which was weight loss and to reach running a 5 km in 6 weeks, then I would have failed miserably. In finding the person that I did, and making me realise that it was a lifestyle change and not a quick fix, it led me on to improving my health and lifestyle choices which in turn led me on the career path that I am on now and thankfully on a healthful journey personally.

I know it’s not easy when those negative thoughts are constantly creeping in and when energy is so low that thinking straight or rationally does not play a part in the day, but I also know that nutrition and lifestyle habits can play a huge part in all of this, as I struggled with it all and I know how it feels to be stuck in bad health and still have to try and struggle through a day.

I always had an interest in nutrition, and had researched courses. After been on my own personal journey and the people I met along that path, the one that I was most interested in was the naturopathic nutritional therapy. Personally, it offered everything that I felt I would need to be able to encourage clients to optimal health, looking at every aspect of health and adaptive health.

My mission

My mission is to help you. After been on my own personal journey the one thing that I became clear on was that I could be true to myself and still exist within all the other “roles” whatever they may be….

Been true to yourself is caring for you and It is important to realise when faced with health issues that nutrition and lifestyle play a large role in returning to health. Working alongside the medical profession if needed. The most important decision you can make today is what you put into your body.

My role

My role is to assess the client’s health and lifestyle habits in order to work out a nutritional and wellness plan.

I will offer guidance, work through setbacks and help the client reach a point where they can make healthy decisions. I can’t diagnose treat or cure but I will work closely with you to help you live the healthiest life possible through positive choices.

Health issues and weight issues can be very overwhelming and the information available to the lay public can be contradictory and discomforting and this is where I can help you.

I offer a 1 to 1 consultation where we will break down the issues concerning you and help come to the root cause of the problem.

I am passionate and understanding of anyone that would come to me with any health concerns and feel that when you make that first step to ask for help then you are ready to make positive changes into better health and I will be there to guide you to that place. I have been there and know what that place feels like, so I empathise with anybody that is in that situation when a diagnosis is not clear, and I have the knowledge to bring you forward into better health and deal with your health issues.
